SAURS
Feeding Behaviour

Diet
Mosasaurs were massive predators that were thought to have hunted near the surface of water bodies. Due to its gigantic size, a Mosasaurs had to satisfy a large energy need- so it essentially sunk its teeth into anything that it could. Mosasaurs were common predators for nautiloids, specifically ammonites, while also feasting on: turtles, sharks, fish and even smaller mosasaurs.
In some fossils that have been preserved very well, palaeontologists have found remnants of the animals they ate within the stomach of the predator's fossil.
Activity Corner: Quiz Yourself!
Mosasaurs were gigantic in size, which meant that they had to eat a lot, and this is what made their diet so not specific. If you were smaller than it, you would not want to be in feeding area of a mosasaur. For comparison, see the estimated size of a mosasaur in comparison to a human in the image above.
